A Little About Me

I’m a digital nomad and tech worker — I got into software about 4 years ago.

I worked in the service industry for 7 years while getting my undergraduate degree in counseling. I’ve always loved working with people, so slinging coffee and offering advice felt like natural steps in my life — but it was during my last semester before graduation that I began to think about what I really, really wanted out of the rest of my life.

One of my primary passions is travel. I’ve been writing out bucket lists of adventures since I was 12 and daydreaming about the places I wanted to go: hike Macchu Picchu, SCUBA dive the Great Barrier Reef, visit Paris, London, Rome — I idolized Indiana Jones, Lara Croft, and Miss Fisher, and I couldn’t wait for the day I traveled. I kept trying to figure out how to make it a full time gig, but making a good income was also important to me. I could never quite settle on the right thing that would make enough money for me to save for retirement while allowing me to choose my own adventures.

And then in college, it all changed...

I gave my future a lot of deep thought during that final semester, and through the advice of a lot of people around me, decided to take the plunge into software. I signed up for a software bootcamp and before I even started, decided I had one goal: to get a remote job that would allow me to work from anywhere.

I studied and taught software development for 8 hours a day for six months, until I signed the contract that made my dream come true: I took a role at a hiring marketplace as a fully remote employee. That fall, I spent a month in France with my sister while working — my first foray into digital nomadism. I was hooked.

Since then, I’ve worked for 4 years in the hiring industry, helping people from all walks of life find their dream remote jobs, and I began realizing I had a new dream: to help people like me move into remote work to support whatever lifestyle you’ve dreamt up.

I’m super excited to bring you Roadmap to Remote — your guide to getting a remote job! It's the result of a lifetime of passion for working with people, 8+ years of travel experience, 5+ years of remote work experience, and 4+ years of experience helping people understand how to market themselves in a remote world. I’ve synthesized my years of experience in hiring, optimizing resumes, LinkedIn, and more tools into a custom-built roadmap that helps you understand where to start in your journey to remote work, including detailed how-tos on building resumes, cover letters, personal narratives and more, along with a slew of tips to help you succeed.
